Contracting parties
In these Website terms of use, "you" and "your" means any and all persons using this website "we", "us" and "our" means Action for Blind People, registered charity number 205913 (England and Wales) SC040050 (Scotland), trading as Vision Hotels.

Access to and use of any information on this website is conditional on your acceptance of these conditions without modification. If you do not wish to accept any part of them, you must not use our website. All bookings for the services we offer are also subject to our booking conditions.

Access to this website is conditional on your agreement that all information contained in it and all matters which arise between you and us will be governed by English law. Access is further conditional on your agreement that any dispute or matter which arises between you and us will be dealt with by the Courts of England and Wales only to the exclusion of the Courts of any other country.

Nothing on this website constitutes an offer on our part. The matters detailed constitute an invitation to you to make an offer to us on the stated terms to purchase arrangements we feature. We may accept or decline any such offer. All arrangements featured or referred to are at all times prior to specific confirmation subject to availability and no warranties, promises or representations are given as to availability.

My Vision Hotels - registration, password and security
When you register you must provide true, accurate, current and complete information in the registration form. If you provide information that is untrue, inaccurate, not current or incomplete (or we have reasonable grounds to suspect that this is the case) we reserve the right to either suspend or terminate your My Vision Hotels account and deny access to the areas and features of this website that a My Vision Hotels account provides.

On registration you will need to provide a password. You are entirely responsible for keeping your password and other account details safe and secure. You will be responsible for all activity that occurs under your account by another person if you fail to take reasonable measures to keep your account details private. You agree to notify us immediately if you know of any unauthorised use of your account or any other breach of security. As part of this responsibility, you must exit from your account at the end of each session.

Your minimum age and parental consent
Although we would like to invite people of all ages to use all aspects of this website, UK law places certain restrictions on who and how people in certain age groups are able to use specific services on the internet. As keeping the people who use this website safe and secure is important to us, we adhere to the relevant legislation in order to do so.

If you are aged 18 or under‚ the content on this website should be suitable for you to view. However, as what is deemed suitable or acceptable for under 18s differs greatly based on a wide range of factors, we require you to review these conditions with your parent or guardian before using this website.

Except as set out in the booking conditions, no warranties, promises and/or representations of any kind, express or implied, are given as to the accuracy or completeness of any of the material or information contained on this website or as to the nature, standard, suitability or otherwise of any services offered by us or on our behalf. We shall not be liable for any loss or damage or other sum or claim of any nature whatsoever whether direct, indirect, consequential or other, which arises, directly or indirectly, in connection with this website including, but not limited to, any use of any information or material contained in this website or any inability to access or use this website.

The information contained on this website may contain technical inaccuracies and typographical and other errors. The information on these pages may be updated from time to time and may at times be out of date. We have the right to change the prices of the services featured or mentioned on this website at any time without prior notice. If any price is obviously incorrect, we will not be bound by it. The services we offer under the Vision Hotels name are governed exclusively by the applicable laws of England and Wales. No warranties and/or representations of any kind, express or implied, are given as to the compliance of the information shown on this website, the services offered by or on behalf of us, any information relating to such services and/or our organisation in any respect with any laws of any other country. Such laws do not, in any event, affect or apply to the same

Booking conditions

The following Terms and Conditions apply to all individual bookings made with Vision Hotels. We kindly ask that you take a moment to read them prior to making a Booking. Group Bookings are subject to seperate Terms & Conditions.

The Organisation enters into this Agreement as principal for Bookings made for the hotels it owns

In these Terms and Conditions the following definitions apply:

“The Agreement” is your Booking Confirmation and the Terms and Conditions;
“The Organisation” is Action for Blind People trading as Vision Hotels;
“The Hotel” is the premises for which your Booking is made;
“The Booking(s)” includes accommodation, functions and any event bookings made;
“The Guest(s)” is the person, organisation, organisation or other body responsible for making the Booking;

Bookings / Payments

  1. All bookings are subject to availability and Vision Hotels reserve the right to refuse any booking at its sole discretion.
  2. All bookings require a credit/debit card to guarantee the reservation.
  3. Guests booking a holiday, or 4 nights or more, will be required to pay a £50 per person non-refundable/non-transferable deposit at time of booking
  4. Certain offers and advance purchase rates require full payment at time of booking which is non-refundable and non-transferable.
  5. All reservations require guests to fully pay for the accommodation package on arrival at the hotel with the exception of (4) above which is already pre-paid.


  1. All rates quoted are per person for the duration of your stay.
  2. All rates include UK VAT at the current rate and any local taxes.
  3. On check in, the front desk will verify your check out date. Rates quoted are based on the check in date and length of stay you specified. Should you choose to depart early and are on a flexible rate, the daily rate for the nights you have stayed may be altered and charged at full published rate. If you are on a package or advanced purchase rate, the full amount for the holiday will be charged and there will be no refund for the portion you have not taken up.
  4. Vision Hotels reserve the right to cancel or modify reservations where it appears that a customer has engaged in inappropriate activity to gain a preferential rate.
  5. Additional services purchased during your stay may be charged to your room account and paid on departure, only if you have pre-authorised a credit card with reception on check-in. If a card is not pre-authorised, any additional services are required to be paid by cash at point of purchase.

Cancellation/ Non-Arrival

  1. All bookings, with the exception of advance purchase and theme break bookings can be cancelled without charge up to 3 days prior to arrival. After this point in time, the first night will be charged for.
  2. Non Arrivals or Cancellations on the day of arrival or after, will be subject to full charge.
  3. Advanced Purchase Bookings may be cancelled but are non-refundable and non-transferable.
  4. Theme Breaks including Festive Bookings can be cancelled without charge up to 28 days prior to arrival. Full and final payment is then required 28 days prior to arrival and is non-refundable and non-transferable.

Change of Booking Details

  1. Reservations may be altered in line with the booking terms & conditions agreed on the original reservation.
  2. All deposits are non-transferable and non-refundable.
  3. Any changes to arrival and departure dates may result in rate changes that could be higher than the original rates quoted.

Arrival and Departure

  1. Check in time is from 4pm on the day of arrival
  2. Check out time is by 11am on the day of departure
  3. Later check out may be arranged direct with the hotel, subject to availablity and will be subject to an additional charge.

Booking Protection

We recommend that you take out holiday/travel insurance so as to protect yourself against any non-refundable charges. Vision Hotels understand that many people will have their own insurance, however if you require cover we can introduce you to two insurance providers. You can log onto or e-mail

Infectious or Contagious Medical Conditions

If Vision Hotels believe that there is a situation which requires us to protect the health of other guests and staff, we will cancel a booking if you or any member of your party has or just had an infectious or contagious medical condition. During a holiday, we will ask any, or all of you to refrain from participating in certain activities, ask you to leave public areas, or ask you to remain in your guest rooms should we in our sole discretion consider it necessary. You should inform us immediately should any such condition develop within four (4) weeks of your arrival or whilst you are on holiday with us.

Leisure / swimming pool
Guests staying in a hotel with a gym and / or swimming pool may use that facility throughout the duration of their stay subject to the opening hours of that facility. Please contact the Hotel for details of their opening hours. A condition of using the facilities is that you must comply with the Hotel’s rules, a copy of which is available at the pool reception.

At certain times, facilities may become unavailable due to maintenance, adverse weather conditions or other reasons beyond our control. We will attempt to keep all hotel guests informed of these circumstances however this may not always be possible. If any facility is a significant reason for your choice of hotel, we would advise you to check directly with the hotel in advance of arrival.

Where a hotel has its own car park, there may be limited spaces available. Please contact the hotel directly for more information. The hotel accepts no responsibility for vehicles parked in the car parks.

Hotel Events
Please be aware that at certain times throughout the year some of our hotels may host weddings, events and parties, which you may feel would be an intrusion on your break. Please contact the hotel directly in advance of your stay for further information.

The Organisation’s liability where accommodation is booked for Guest belongings is generally limited under the Hotel Proprietors Act 1956.

The Organisation maintains appropriate insurance cover where the hotel is liable for any injury or loss or damage suffered by our Guests.

If you have a problem
In the unlikely event that you have a problem during your stay you must bring it to the attention of the hotel management at the time to ensure that we have an opportunity to rectify the problem during your stay.

If you are not satisfied that the issue has been resolved fully, please submit details in writing as soon as possible to Vision Hotels Customer Services, c/o Windermere Manor Hotel, Rayrigg Road, Windermere, Cumbria LA23 1ES.

Licensing and Statutory Regulations
The Organisation, Hotel, functions and conferences within it are subject to Statutory Regulations including those relating to fire precautions and entertainment. The regulations must be strictly observed and a copy is available from the Hotel.  The provisions of the Licensing Act 1964 as amended must be observed.

(i)This clause sets out the entire financial liability of the Organisation (including any liability for the acts or omissions of its employees, agents, consultants and subcontractors) to the Guest in respect of:

  • any breach of this Agreement; and
  • any representation, statement or tortuous act or omission (including negligence) arising under or in connection with this Agreement.

(ii)All warranties, conditions and other terms implied by statute or common law are, to the fullest extent permitted by law, excluded from this Agreement.

(iii) Nothing in this Agreement limits or excludes the liability of the Organisation:

  • for death or personal injury resulting from negligence; or
  • for any damage or liability incurred by the Guest as a result of fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation by the Organisation.

(iv) Subject to clause (ii) and clause (iii and

the Organisation shall not be liable for any special, indirect, consequential or pure economic loss including but not limited to loss of profits, loss of business; depletion of goodwill and/or similar losses.

The Organisation’s total liability in contract, tort (including negligence or breach of statutory duty), misrepresentation, restitution or otherwise arising in connection with the performance or contemplated performance of this Agreement shall be limited to the value of the Agreement.

(v)The Organisation does not accept liability for loss or damage to any high value item, object, equipment, furniture, stock or any other property (including but not limited to cash, jewellery and electronic items such as laptops, cameras and phones) or for any item of exceptional character ("items") brought onto the premises by the Guest or persons authorised by the Guest. Cloakrooms are provided for the convenience of the Guests but the organisation does not accept liability for any items deposited there or any items left with the organisation at reception or otherwise. 

Hotel Proprietors Act 1956
This Agreement does not affect any rights, which the Guest may have under the Hotel Proprietor’s Act 1956, where this act applies

Force Majeure
The Organisation shall not be in breach of this Agreement if it does not provide the services under this Agreement due to the following circumstances:

  • Industrial action by the Organisation’s employees
  • Industrial action by the staff of one of the Organisation’s suppliers
  • Fire, lighting, explosion, riot, civil commotion, malicious damage, extreme weather conditions, storm, flood, burst pipes, earthquake, volcanic eruptions,  terrorism and the Hotel being damaged or destroyed.
  • Postal bookings which do not reach the Organisation
  • Breakdown of machinery, or any failure to supply the Hotel with gas, electricity, water and so on, outside the control of the Organisation.

If any of the above occurs the Organisation will do its best to avoid any inconvenience to you or your Guests.

The Organisation shall have the ability to assign, subcontract or transfer any of its rights or obligations under the Agreement as it sees fit.

Third Party Rights
None of the terms of the Agreement are intended to be enforceable by any third party nor is it intended that this Agreement will confer any right on any person pursuant to the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999.

No variation of this Agreement shall be valid unless it is in writing and signed by, or on behalf of, each of the parties.

Failure to exercise, or any delay in exercising, any right or remedy provided under this Agreement by law to the Organisation shall not constitute a waiver of that (or any other) right or remedy, nor shall it preclude or restrict any further exercise of that (or any other) right or remedy.

If any provision of the Agreement (or part of any provision) is found by a court to be invalid, illegal or unenforceable, that provision or part-provision shall, to the extent required, be deemed not to form part of this Agreement, and the validity and enforceability of the other provisions of this Agreement shall not be affected.

Right of Set Off
The Organisation shall have the ability to deduct any sums owed to it by the Guest  against any sums it owes whether any such sum is present or future (whensoever arising), liquidated or unliquidated, under this Agreement or not.  Any exercise by the Organisation of its rights under this clause shall be without prejudice to any other rights or remedies available to it under this Agreement or otherwise.

The Agreement shall be governed by the laws of England and Wales and the Courts of England and Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction to settle any dispute or claim that arises out of or in connection with this Agreement or its subject matter or formation

Privacy policy

Keeping your personal information safe
Vision Hotels respect your privacy and security and whenever you provide us with your personal information via this website, we treat it in accordance with this privacy policy, website terms of use, our booking conditions (when applicable) and current UK Data Protection legislation. We will not sell‚ share‚ or rent this information to 3rd parties‚ unless we have your express permission to do so‚ or we are required to do so by law‚ for example‚ by a court order or for the purposes of prevention of fraud or other crime.

Any personal data you give us will be used only for the express purpose for which it was intended, such as to fulfil an enquiry or confirm a booking with a hotel or send you appropriate marketing offers,(subject to your opt-in). Your data will then be stored securely on our database for a reasonable period of time, as appropriate to its intended use.

Control of your personal data
For the purposes of the Data Protection Act 1998, Action for Blind People are a data controller. In order to process your booking or marketing requests we need to collect certain personal details from you. These details will include, where applicable, your name and contact details, credit/ debit card or other payment details and special requirements such as those relating to any medical condition or impairment which may effect your chosen arrangements and any dietary restrictions which may disclose your religious beliefs.

Booking online
In respect of bookings we need to pass on your personal details to the companies and organisations who need to know them so that your chosen arrangements can be provided, including, but not limited to, your hotel, other supplier, credit/debit card company or bank.

Storage of your personal data
All details you give us in connection with your booking will be stored securely. Credit card details will only be stored for the relevant time period required to make the booking and for the hotel to confirm and process the booking in our system. No credit or debit card information will be stored with this website once your stay at the hotel(s) is/are complete. When storing information for marketing purposes, we will store only names and contact details and these details will be stored separately from the booking details. Any sensitive information, such as credit or debit card details, is encrypted and protected using SSL.

Non-sensitive details are transmitted normally over the internet‚ and as is the nature of the internet, can never be guaranteed to be 100% secure, although we have the systems in place to ensure it will be as secure as is reasonably practicable under UK law. Where we have provided a password that enables you to access certain aspects of this website‚ you are responsible for keeping this password confidential.

Use of third party services
When we use a data services company to analyse data on our behalf, in order for us to tailor future marketing campaigns effectively, such companies will be registered under the Data Protection Act and will handle your data appropriately. We only provide any such companies with the personal details relating to our guests, which they require in order to deliver the service back to us. They are prohibited from using that information for any other purpose. We will ensure that anyone to whom we pass your details for this reason are legally bound to treat it with the same level of protection we are obliged to provide.

Transfer of your personal information
We may transfer your personal information to a third party as part of a sale of some or all of our business and assets to any third party or as part of any business restructuring or reorganisation‚ or if we are under a duty to disclose or share your personal data in order to comply with any legal obligation or to enforce or apply our terms of use or to protect the rights‚ property or safety of our customers. However‚ we will take steps with the aim of ensuring that your privacy rights continue to be protected.

Marketing communications
We will only send you relevant and timely marketing communications and we will give you the opportunity to decline to receive some or all of these communications every time we send them.

If you are registered with this website and have a My Vision Hotels account, you can opt-out of receiving Vision Hotels marketing communications at any time. If you have not registered with this website but have signed up to receive marketing communications from us, then you can either opt-out by clicking on the link provided in every email we send to you or use the opt-out button below.
